Socio psychology..it quite special for me actually..how special is it for me..? I could say that is only a superb basic of psychology that I’m learning now..well it sounds great to learn about that since I’m interested with that also..(influenced by my friends who are studying ‘real’ psychology..) Last class was so interesting. We were learning about pop culture and cut up technique.. Pop culture or known as pop art, is a visual art movement around 1950th in Britain and United State. It was a major art movement in our art history. It can be found on much kind of media such as advertisements and comic books. Pop art is a dominant idea of an abstract expressionism and it can be defined by the artist use of rendering technique to reduce an expressive art work.
Pop art is originated with cut up technique which is known as fish bowling also, is an genre in which a text or a picture become some random pieces of cut up to create a new art work or a new images. The pieces of the cut up text or pictures is generated following the colors esp. to created a new art work or a new images just like a ‘printed pixels’. For example, there is a group of London based artists called Cutup. They are mainly involved in the advertising industry. The first works consisted of removing a billboard become individually 4000 small pieces of cut up. Then they reduced it following their idea and rendering skill to create a new abstraction billboard. Most of the advertisement case, they are mainly deal with art on the street such as replacing small bus-shelter advertisements with a drilled sheet of wood.
Following the general information of the pop culture, our first class exercise is creating a new images or a new art work based on our idea. It is free of title unless it is a cut up collage. We were in separated group of 4 or 5 persons a group. My group members were Kevin, Fatin, Keivan, and Leila. At the first, we were thinking of a portrait collage. Because of the limited of the colors that we have, we decided to create a grey portrait collage of girl. So then we cut out all the pieces of paper from the magazine advertisement following the colors we need to the small rectangle pieces. In the process of making the collage, we were changing our idea at the same time. Because of the pieces of cut up that we cut out was too small, so we were taking the longest time to finish it compared to others group. At the last, our cut up collage was finished. Yet it became a collage of Mona Lisa portrait that we never think before.
Finally, it was an interesting class for me to learn some basic about pop culture and cut up technique.

Progressing..

Done!!!hehe..
